İlker Tarı is the CSP Division Coordinator and Science and Technology Committee member of
ODTÜ-GÜNAM and founding co-director of ODAK Solar Thermal Research Lab. He is a professor of
Mechanical Engineering at the Middle East Technical University (METU). He serves at the Management
Board of ENDAM Energy Materials and Storage Devices Research Center and the Executive Committee
of International Centre of Heat and Mass Transfer (ICHMT) and serves as the Secretary-General of
He received his BS in Nuclear Energy Engineering from Hacettepe University in 1987, MS in
Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1991, Nuclear Engineer Degree and SM in
Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1994, and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from
Northeastern University in 1998. Before joining METU, he was a lecturer of Mechanical Engineering at
the University of California, Riverside. He was a visiting professor at TU München Nanoelectronics
Institute during his sabbatical leave in 2010-2012.
His research areas are Solar Energy, Thermal Energy Storage, Computational Heat Transfer,
Radiative Transfer, Heat Exchanger Design, and Fuel Cells. He published more than 70 journal articles,
book chapters, and conference proceedings and supervised 40 MS and PhD theses.
